In reply to the discussion: Bernie's Political Revolution Under Way! 191 Bernie Democrats Running For Public Office So Far: [View all]frazzled
(18,402 posts)The House seat was won by Robin Kelly in 2014 with 78% of the vote. The "Bernie Political Revolution" candidate, Marcus Lewis, ran as an Independent and got 0.1% of the vote. It would have to be a huuuuge revolution to catch up with and unseat this incumbent.
Democratic Robin Kelly Incumbent 78.5% 160,337
Republican Eric Wallace 21.4% 43,799
Independent Marcus Lewis (Write-in) 0.1% 130

BTW, it's not 191 candidates running for Congress, as stated in the OP. Most of the names on the list are running in state races. But that's a good place to begin. If most of them are running as Independents, however, they're not even going to get many of the voters supporting Sanders in the Democratic primary. Local races are much more party bound.
