NASA has been using duct tape for years, at least since the Apollo missions. The tape used is an off the self brand available in your local hardware store. It's been used to patch holes caused by space debris, to create a DIY carbon dioxide filter for Apollo 13, and fenders on the rover that astronauts drove on the moon.

Duct tape is used throughout the ISS, and even outside to secure emergency jetpacks to spacewalkers.
