(31,849 posts)despite our being smarter, studying longer, & working harder than our white counterparts just to be seen as average among the majority population, we STILL are routinely challenged by significantly lesser qualified, lesser informed members of the majority population ... members that would NEVER challenge a equally accomplished majority member.
If I were the King of America, I would build Rage of a Privileged Class (Ellis Cose, 1994) (http://www.amazon.com/The-Rage-Privileged-Class-Middle-Class/dp/0060925949 ) into the High School curriculum for every High School Freshman. One (personally painful) vignette relates the story of a named partner of a 200+ attorney law firm being challenged at the elevator by a 1st year associate. (What 1st year associate doesn't know every named partner by sight?)
