8. It's also that a LOT of newspapers pick up AP stories.

They are cheap and/or hurting financially, so they cut down on their own reporters. Few have anyone assigned overseas. Many use their own reporters only for local news.

I don't think many of us quote AP from the Fox website, though. If I find an AP story in, say, the website of a Nashville newspaper, I usually go to the AP website and post that link to the same (or similar) story.
