Off-duty Prince Georges officer shot after nightclub dispute

A Prince Georges County police officer working an off-duty security job at a Langley Park nightclub was shot in the leg early Saturday morning by a young man who had just been thrown out of the popular late-night hangout, authorities said.
The young man and two women were involved in a dispute inside the Galaxy club in the 2000 block of University Boulevard, possibly over a cell phone, said Julie Parker, a Prince Georges County police spokeswoman.
Told to leave, all three got into a white Honda and started driving slowly through the clubs parking lot, Parker said.
Parker said the man, who was driving, suddenly opened fire through the passengers side. At least one of the shots struck a Prince Georges County police officer working off-duty at the club in the leg, Parker said ...

Man charged with shooting officer in leg
... Officer Rachael Jacob was shot in the leg by a man after he and two women were thrown out of Galaxy night club for disorderly conduct, police said.
According to police, the man, 32-year-old Kelly Gilliss of Cherry Hill Road in Beltsville, got into the drivers seat of a white Honda. The two women entered the vehicle as well.
He reached through the passenger door window and fired a handgun toward the entrance of the club, striking Ms. Jacob in the leg, police said. Officers returned fire.
Police said Mr. Gilliss and the two passengers fled the scene in the Honda and were stopped a short distance away by officers. A handgun was recovered ...
