Having an empty holster shows he was looking for a confrontation and publicity.

Public protest, like the Occupy protests I participate in, are supposed to be confrontational, in that we are confronting people with our ideology in protest.

This might make some people uncomfortable. It is supposed to.

That's the way peaceful free speech works. It's not all sunshine and roses and kum-ba-yah.
