You Can’t Protest at the Supreme Court [View all]
The Rutherford Institute has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of a man who was arrested for protesting on the plaza in front of the Supreme Court. All the man did, according to the complaint (and theres video to support this), is wear a sandwich board with a message on it protesting mistreatment of minorities by the government.
Hodge was charged with violating 40 U.S.C. § 6135, an incredibly broad and clearly unconstitutional regulation prohibiting pretty much any form of protest on the grounds of the Supreme Court, no matter how peaceful it may be.
It is unlawful to parade, stand, or move in processions or assemblages in the Supreme Court Building or grounds, or to display in the Building and grounds a flag, banner, or device designed or adapted to bring into public notice a party, organization, or movement.
