My oven won't fully heat [View all]

And just in time for Christmas. Damn.

The terminals to the black wire weren't tight enough. They burnt and the cord melted down a bit. I filed the black off of the oven terminal and replaced the terminal block, the cord and the fuses. I also replaced the range receptacle.

The oven gets hot, but doesn't reach the full temperature. The stove also fails to achieve full temperature.

Any ideas? I have a multimeter. Is there any reason not to check continuity in a range receptacle? I read on the Internet that it could kill me.
