My brand new, 3 day old, Win10 laptop fried when McAfee said it found a trojan in an app I downloaded.

It hung, and wouldn't reboot after I forced it to shut down. Dead!

So I started playing with function keys on startup, hoping to get into safe mode, or something like it, but what I got was better. A screen eventually popped up offering to restart from scratch, and it did exactly that. A few hours later I had a brand new machine, presumably coming from that D drive.

Of course, I had to reinstall all the programs I put in there, but I had the option of saving my data (which is backed up anyway).

Keep up your love affair with 7 if you must (you've got a lot of company) but after I found out how to hide the cartoon screen in 8.1, it became the most stable and friendly OS I've ever used, and 10 is even better.
