Our theme for the JANUARY PHOTO Contest is:

In Honor of the Roman God, Janus (god of doors, beginnings and endings, transitions facing forwards and backwards)

Be creative!

One entry per person for now. Submissions are limited to 30 entries. If the contest is opened up to a second entry, there will be a post announcing it in the Photography group. A second entry is now permissible per person.
Please keep your entry no larger than 1024 pixels in its longest dimension and under 675K in file size. If you need help posting a photograph or with image sizing, just ask.

For the first time, the winner of this contest will be responsible ONLY for choosing the theme of the February contest, which will be hosted by a volunteer (Mira has offered to be the first volunteer host). The winner may choose a topic, or start a thread asking for ideas, or run a poll--any of the usual means we have used--but please communicate the chosen theme to the volunteer host (for February, it's Mira) by the 1st of February. The winner of the JANUARY contest will not be eligible to enter the FEBRUARY contest since the winner will have selected the theme for the next contest. (The volunteer host will be eligible to enter the February contest.)

Submissions will remain open until January 18th. Prelims will run January 18-21; Finals will run January 21-24. If we get to 30 entries prior to the 18th, I will adjust the Prelims and Finals schedule accordingly.

An entrant to this contest, by submitting a photograph, is giving permission for that photograph to be copied to Demopedia or to a linked Gallery and included in a DU Calendar that will display the photographs entered for this contest for the purpose of publicizing future contests and/or commemorating current and past contests. The entrant retains all other rights to the photograph being submitted.
