He was a most insistent outdoor cat, could not keep him in, and one day found him bit, took him to vet, it was a snakebite, could not save him.

We have ..as in see often....copperheads and rattle snakes in our woods.
also Ginormous black rat snakes, which will speed my heart rate when I find one lying across the entire width of the driveway.
