He gave up performing for sailing, mostly, though he did benefits and I saw him perform at a Cystic Fibrosis benefit in Maryland in the late '80s. I just discovered that he continued to release recordings as late as 2000, so he didn't completely fall off the map.
His signature song was the title song for the movie, 'Baby the Rain Must Fall.' What a voice!
