(15,805 posts)34. It had a much stronger and distinctive gingery
taste back when I was a kid. It kinda burned your throat when you swallowed, but somehow eased the pain of a bad sore throat.
I still drink it when I don't feel good, but I add some finely grated fresh ginger root to boost the flavor. Ginger ale and a few saltines have been a useful home remedy for sore throats and to help settle a queasy tummies.
