(2,674 posts)138. Dark Fired Tobacco "firing" in the barn
Dark fired tobacco is used to make snuff and chewing tobacco. After harvesting, it is hung tall, narrow tobacco barns and smoked with heat, this is calling firing. This type of tobacco is grown in Western Tennessee and Western Kentucky.
I used to live near Murray, Kentucky and always looked forward to Autumn to smell the tobacco firing. As you drive down the country roads, you get a whiff of the smell of the tobacco being fired, it smells like tobacco, barbecue and bacon all combined. Nothing like it.
