I used to shut off my car at stoplights. It takes 7 seconds worth of gas to start a car. If you are going to be sitting there longer than 7 seconds it worth it to shut it off. I have a hybrid now that does that for me.
Unless I'm going on a long trip I never have more than 1/2 a tank of gas. Gas weighs 6 pounds per gallon so having a full tank means you are carting around extra weight.
