4. We drove down to visit friends in Florida later that month

Interesting drive. I-95 wasn't quite complete, so every once in a while you'd find yourself on a stretch of back road, going through the swamps with tottering shacks to either side. I also recall seeing the news that Lyndon Johnson had died on a motel TV along the way.

And every hour or so, you had to switch to a different local AM station on the radio -- and it seemed like every one of them was playing "You're So Vain" just as we tuned in. I *really* got to hate that song.
