She started in the same key as the piano and just kept drifting more and more from the key.

The electronic keyboard is not going to go sharp or flat in the course of one tune. If the singer could hear the keyboard, she has no ear and should not be singing in public. If she could not hear the keyboard, then her ear is not nearly good enough to sing a cappella with a keyboard to be mixed in unheard.

She drifted at least a full step before I just couldn't take it anymore - about "the rockets red glare."
