Everyone keeps trying to come up with a reason or explanation for his behavior; he's deteriorating mentally, he's on Adderol (sp), etc. Maybe those things are true maybe they aren't but it just helps him continue to do what he's doing.

He's an idiot on many things, math, economics, history but he is a genius on one very important thing. Being a con man! He knows exactly what he is doing he's deflecting, he's pitting people against each other and so on. This is all to further the con and keep the heat off himself and he's done this for decades. It's what a con man does; he needs to keep 3 steps ahead of the people being conned and he's brilliant at it.
