a portion of a tower crane can be seen, specifically the concrete blocks that are used as a counterweight on the crane's counter-jib. The helicopter came down next to a construction site. I have read the theory that the helicopter came into contact with a construction crane. This one is still upright, so if that theory is true, then the helicopter hit some other crane.

Here is a picture of a helicopter (but maybe not the one that crashed; see the edit) taking off from the helipad on top of the KOMO-TV building. It was taken on December 4, 2013 - three and a half months ago.

KOMO helicopter taking off

ETA, on Wednesday: In this thread's post #10, icymist reported:

People were sitting in their cars at a stop light when the helicopter crashed in front of them. The gas from the copter spread among the cars and began to light everything on fire. (per witness account) So far, on the news I saw three vehicles burnt out on the ground, two cars and a pickup truck. There are tarps being put up around some of the cars. Helicopters Inc., who owns this helicopter is saying it hit a crane. This is not the permanent helicopter for komo news, the building it took off of, but is a rental. The permanent copter is currently being fitted with new cameras.
