Our severely autistic son is graduating from high school in June. He will go on to a three year transition program in which he probably will learn nothing marketable. So, his three parents are going to get him an apartment and spend the next decade or so getting him ready to be able to go into a decent group home. And the govt. will be paying him $710 a month, of which $550 will go to the rent ($1200 actual) and the rest to food, which since he is gluten free, that should cover about a week. We'll try to get him food stamps. He's actually a damn lucky kid to have two biological and a step parent who love him with all of their hearts. But the government would rather he just go away.
