But these football players were part of a team that won the national championship. One might be inclined to think they had a future in pro ball. How many college graduates can say their futures are looking this bright?

With that in mind, for them to beat folks into unconsciousness then rob them is just plain stupid.

From potential "role model" to felon.

(Incidentally, I've never believed that athletes were "role models" to begin with. Just aping the media narrative)
