If they thought it had no influence do you think they would be wasting any time on such?
Another thing it does is give the a lot of politicians on both sides cover for the things that would be radical right wing a decade or so to being applicable in today's political climate. We settle because of the threat we might get worse down the road if we don't settle and agree. The corporations are just practicing divide and conquer using politicians as the conduit
