(6,832 posts)24. I had a friend who's Catholic. She and I had a debate about a phrase she said was in the bible.
"Okay", she said, and went to get her bible to prove her posit. Back she comes pointing to a passage in her book. I looked at the cover and was surprised that it was a book entitled "traditional catholic ritual and teaching" or something like that. She actually had no concept of the canonized bible at all except as something only priests could understand, amazed and unbelieving that I'd actually read it. She maintained that her pet phrase must be in there but that I'd missed it. (The pet phrase had some expansion on Mary's thoughts about her pregnancy. On reflection it seems that catholicism may be terminally obsessed with pre-natal affairs.)
