In their twisted theology, Israel is a component of Armageddon. Evangelicals believe that hateful bigots like themselves will be vacuumed off the earth by God to live in fundamentalist heaven, leaving all of us poor schlubs here to suffer. The people left to suffer will include Jews, too, you see, because they don't share the same demented fundamentalist beliefs as evangelicals.
