Support for AWBs fluctuates between 50-60% historically. But it is never a top concern- there are few single issue voters on gun control so politicians usually can ignore it with little concern.

A big issue is how that support is distributed. It is concentrated in a few large blue states. There are many less populated red/purple states that oppose it. Yet each of those states has two senators like every other state. Which is why gun control dies in the Senate every time - even when the Dems are in control.

There are only 7 states that have passed AWBs - that is a good indicator of how little real support for AWBs there is.
