I'm in Deschutes County. It IS more moderate than it was a couple of decades ago, anyway. The further east you go, though...

The Bundys are not Oregonians. They've come in from out of state.

"We are using the wildlife refuge as a place for individuals across the United States to come and assist in helping the people of Harney County claim back their lands and resources," Ammon Bundy, acting spokesman for the militia, announced in his rallying cry. Militia members claimed they had as many as 100 supporters with them but journalists on the scene say that number is overblown and in fact there are merely some 6-12 members of the so-called patriot group.

The Hammonds, the family with the legal issue, have rejected this action.

Meanwhile, the Hammonds, through their family lawyer, have explicitly stated that they do not want to be affiliated with Bundy and his ragtag militia.

"Neither Ammon Bundy nor anyone within his group/organization speak for the Hammond Family," W. Alan Schroeder, the family’s lawyer wrote to Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward.

What the rest of the locals think? I don't know about them. I do know that I'm not pleased with some right wing militia wackos deciding to converge on my state to stir up their drama.
