But there is a lot under the surface and it definitely affects things like arrest rates. I definitely hear my share of racism on a regular basis. Although I'm 1/2 Chinese I look almost 100% white so I get to benefit from white privilege most of the time. But I know that people of colour here have to fear being stopped and arrested too. That being said the prison system is nowhere near as draconian here as there. You guys were the first to legalize weed on a state level though which says something about areas of the US being pretty liberal. Although we will legalize it federally next year. One of the main driving forces behind what separates our countries is that money isn't quite behind the scenes corrupting everything in quite the way here as it is there. I mean sure it is, but not on the level that it is there. We don't have the urge to privatize everything all the time.
