(1,349 posts)This is one of those soft types of sexism. Women are expected to present a non offensive, mild seeming front, which leads men to think they're not strong and expect them to back down to be a people pleaser.
Having watched her work in the Senate, what I see is an iron fist in a velvet glove, she seems like a a very nice, sweet lady, so sweet and soft spoken that her adversaries don't quite understand why their guts have spilled on the floor while they were musing about how vague and pleasant she was being.
This a defense mechanism that women must adopt to avoid the nastiness that men dish out when they're dealing with women who are smarter and more effective than they are. It's a game Hillary doesn't play, which is why men have hated her since the very beginning, she's not enough of a people pleaser.
*I'm not accusing you of being consciously sexist, but this is the the sexism of our society that leads to both the affectations and the opinions men have when they see women adopting this facade.
