Check with your local Social Services. When my MIL needed nursing home care, she too was just over the limit for Medicaid. We contacted Social Services and I don't know if it is nationwide or state by state, But KY has a program where, if you are just slightly over the income limit for Medicaid and you are below their asset limitation, you can sign over her SS payments and then she can go on Medicaid. Don't know if your state has the same program, or if this would work for you, but it is worth a look. Good Luck!
