Can someone fully explain what deep nuances and cultural references I missed in the Maher joke? [View all]

So far we have

... Malcom X said house negro (video in comments below for those this is new to)

References Gone With The Wind (I usually LOVE film references, but...)

Differentiation betweeen Field slave vs House slave, Maher keeps his nails clean.

References policies not paying farm workers a living wage/ child labor (not sure why a Latino reference wouldn't have been more relevant)

What did I miss? Asking for a friend who still thinks it was a poor choice but had been told a dozen times they are missing something and don't "get it". What else is there to get?
