I cannot figure out where the family resides from the article. Perhaps it is not publicly available information. According to the report, their last names have been withheld to protect relatives back in Syria.

Perhaps those who publicized this situation will reach out to local food banks and charities on behalf of the family.

My own child is on Medicaid. I submitted renewal forms yesterday. Believe me when I tell you that the State of Georgia makes it very difficult to both apply for and renew Medicaid and SNAP benefits.

GA did not expand Medicaid as part of ACA. In addition only poor children, some very low income poor mothers and the blind & disabled are eligible for Medicaid here.
