23. Green Tree ,what laws?

Green Tree took over our mortgage 2 years ago. At that time we owed less than $29,000 on our $180,000 home. We were in the process of refinancing at a very low interest rate for 10-15 years. our payments would be under $200 a month and we thought we could probably pay it off early. Green Tree took over and stopped the final steps of securing our new loan. They just refused the payoff amount and put us in foreclosure.(In the state of Georgia, you don't have to be late or behind on your payments) They stopped the foreclosure as soon as all efforts to pay off the loan was ceased. However they left it on a false credit report submitted to the credit bureaus to insure our account stayed within their control. They did offer us a harp modification which increased our payments to over $350.00 a month for 40 years, which we refused to sign. Soon after they repeatedly had many mistakes pop up with their accounting systems. We were given different problems to resolve for them to keep our account information correct. Even after contacting the BBB and the CFPB which have no authority over Green Tree, we still made our higher mortgage payments that GreenTree arranged and were never late. That was a joke to them since in the state of Georgia they have the right to foreclose and sell your house even with all payments current and over $5000.00 in prepayments made to the account. They claim our payments did not apply to our mortgage and those they admitted receiving were considered gifts. To shorten the story I'll go right to the foreclosure. We were notified by an attorneys office one day that our house was scheduled to be auctioned off at our county courthouse in 3 weeks. Their attorney was unable to get a payoff amount from Green Tree either. For almost 2 years they denied us the right to pay our loan off so this wasn't a surprise. We finally got an attorney who was finally able to get GreenTree to make up a payoff amount, which just happened to be the amount of our original note 10 years ago. We had been through so much the past 2years we borrowed money from friends and paid the loan a second time through our attorney to avoid it being considered another gift. We still have not received our deed. I have kept proof of forged documents and fraudulent credit reports. Also documented their harassment of several cell calls while trying to get to safety during a major ice storm that closed up businesses that day. I am very interested in knowing how many of their victims were over 50 years old and how many were disabled and handicapped. We had applied for a HomeSafe loan through the government so they are aware of Green Tree practices and disregard of the Laws in the US. We were even sent a booklet from one of their financial counseling agencies showing us how so many laws in affect were broken by Green Tree. But no advise on why they are not enforced on GreenTree. If we can get our deed, we will need an attorney brave enough to help us enforce federal laws and get our money back. I believe from my research, the state of Florida may have a few. I will post again if I find any, as I'm sure there are hundreds of victims that could benefit from that knowledge.
