Pay for warehouse positions in Upper Macungie is $12 per hour, according to Amazons website. The median pay for similar jobs in the region is $14 per hour, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
So notice, first, that those 7,000 jobs arent in Chattanooga, but all over the US. Second, Amazons cash comp is markedly below local averages. And although it offers a benefits package, its not clear that its better than what other area employers offer. The article doesnt add that some of these 7,000 jobs are part time and/or seasonal.
