1. The substantive truth about the rich lady was spoken but it was politically adverse to Democratic interests as it made Corporate McPravda's job of muddying the waters re: women's issues and where the parties stand on that all the easier.

2. The speaker telling the truth about the rich lady works for Corporate McPravda, perhaps that's just a coincidence but Corporate McPravda was/is loath to make that distinction.
