(1,244 posts)69. Too many have no clue to what government really does.
In my town government picks up the trash, runs the police department, treats our sewer water, runs the fire department, supplies the electricity (at a significant discount to PGE which is the only other source of power), supplies our water (pulled from wells and softened and treated so it is drinkable), maintains our parks, streets, and storm drain system, installed bike paths. It goes on and on. Do we really think these things are unnecessary??
