(28,979 posts)or get the feeling I might be the subject of discussion, or someone who might think like me might be the subject of discussion, what am I to think? If y'all stop whispering when you see me, then get huffy about how you should have the right to have public conversations about secret plans that concern doing something divisive and get all defensive about it when all I did was read your post and comment on the tone which I clearly did not misread, I must conclude that the giggling and tittering I hear as I walk by is directed at me -- well yes -- then I do start feeling excluded. If you only brought 10 valentines to school when there were 12 girls and then announced the fact that only the "special" girls were deemed worthy of receiving them, wouldn't you expect the slighted ones to notice or feel singled out? You are the one who made a show of announcing you were bursting with a "secret" idea you decided not to share with us "nerds" after seeking the advice of the cool kids who all rec'ed your thread. Anyway, no big deal. My name "Generic Other" -- know what that means, right? The "other" box on all the forms that ask which group you belong to. Neither fish nor fowl. Outsider. Always.
Usually, I consider you to be one of DU's more thoughtful voices, so the slight junior high feel of your thread disappointed me, that's all.
I just hope we can still be friends when the jocks and cheerleaders aren't around.
