(36,011 posts)...is a bunch of abusive and OTT posts that if I'd seen them would have alerted, and I definitely would have voted to hide if I were on a jury. Those posts weren't hidden because she's a feminist or because of her gender. They were hidden because she's telling other DUers to fuck off and being nasty.
People who are imo mollycoddling her and telling her it's not her fault, but the fault of the alerters aren't doing her any favours at all. If I had that many hidden posts I'd be copping it on the chin and taking full responsibility and learning from it and modifying my behaviour, and I hope that's what seabeyond does. It's very possible to be a feminist, a female, and talk about issues regarding both without scoring hidden posts. And while some juries tend to give a pass to bigotry (I've seen it happen over the past 24hrs when it comes to Jews and Muslims), one thing that can pretty much guarantee a post will be hidden is to tell other DUers to fuck off. It's also clear from reading this thread and others that there's more than a few people reading her posts the way I have and seeing the broadbrush generalisations made against men. She claims she isn't doing that when she says things like 'you men' or posts that men behave in a particular way, so what she needs to do is take what's being said on board and ensure that if she's not talking about all men, she makes that clear. That would probably cut the alerts down by a lot just doing that alone...
for the record, I'm saying this as a woman, a feminist, and one of the co-founders of HoF, and I hope seabeyond takes this criticism in the spirit it's intended and doesn't go down the blaming everyone else for her hidden posts route...
