Christmas carols for a dying little girl. [View all]

Laney, a girl in West Reading PA, has two weeks to live, maybe. Leukemia.

One of her last wishes was to hear Christmas carolers.

This happened about two hours ago:

Carolers on Chestnut Street outside her home.

A family in Berks County celebrated Laney Brown's eighth birthday Friday, knowing she won't be able to blow out the candles a year from now. Laney, who is losing her battle with leukemia, has captured the hearts of so many from across the country. The community has rallied around her, hoping for a miracle. Thousands of people are expected to sing Christmas carols to Laney at 7 p.m. on Saturday. They will gather in the 400 block of Chestnut Street in West Reading to help fulfill one of her final wishes -- to hear Christmas carolers.

There are plenty of reasons to despair for this country, what we've become, what we are becoming.

But this happened, not two hours ago.

We are our brother's and sister's keeper. More people believe that than don't.

And that's why we will get this right some day.

UPDATE: The nose-count stands at 10,000 carolers.
