....it's all about seizing the headlines each day. Whoever seizes the headlines wins the day. We saw that bloom during the impeachment, where the VRWC had an outrage each day for the press to jump on. Drip, drip, drip. And we all remember each day's ridiculous headline grab in the Bush occupation of the WH. Presidential campaigns were fraught with little scandals. Distractions became the rule.

And distractions began to be manufactured. I believe Rove kept some in his back pocket so as to grab the day's news in case there was a negative story he didn't like.
