Police say the time it took a man to stop and pick up a stolen stainless steel trash can lid delayed him just enough for officers to notice him and investigate. It's something that resulted in the man's arrest.

Just before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday officers were patrolling the 4000 block of Magnolia Street where they noticed a man in a 1995 blue Chevrolet truck. He was in a parking lot with 6 stainless steel trash can tops. Officers determined that the man had stopped to pick up a lid that had fallen out of his truck.
