that 40% thinks the mere giving up of the liberty would eliminate the terrorism. I don't think many Americans even give thought to the foreign policy (multi national business dealings) that is an incubator for terrrorism.
They can't associate one with the other. They believe the terrorism happens in a vacuum. Certainly we have isolated incidents of either martyr or mentally disturbed people acting on their own. But orchestrated acts of terrorism will never be defused through our giving up our rights.
However, lazy (or non-existent) journalism and the fact constant terror is useful to many individuals means we are in for a long, uncomfortable ride...............
