(305 posts)The assassination of Judge Robert Vance was accomplished by a bomb contained in a package delivered to his home, disguised to appear to be Christmas present from one of his judicial colleagues. Two similar bombs were sent: 1) to an attorney for the NAACP, who was killed by its explosion and 2) to another judicial officer, which bomb was discovered and deactivated before reaching its intended target. The senior officer of the Southern Company involved in its audit committee's investigation of missing nuclear fuel was assassinated by means of an barometric bomb placed in his company airplane.
Billy Grice of the Enterprise had been head supply officer at Fort Rucker. Grice had befriended Walter Moody, the person charged and convicted of the assassination of Judge Vance, in federal prison where Moody was serving time for crime related to a bomb he had made.
