It is appropriate to discuss those circumstances, since it's apparent that the police seem to think that they're significant.
I posted about the pitbulls because they are relevant, given the persistent and mysterious sentiment at DU that these dogs are no more dangerous than other breeds. To wit, the three dead people didn't have 70 chocolate labs chained up in the back yard.
These are three people who participated in a violent and dangerous business, and death is not uncommon in that business. It is unfortunate that the woman was killed. It is also unfortunate that the two men were killed.
Would your reaction have been different if one of the men had died while holding the baby instead?
