(62,325 posts)they had adopted whose leg was broken and who had been in a cast from the time they got him. They had hoped that it would heal. The shelter was unable to pay (they are overwhelmed with homeless animals) as the costs to try to save his leg went up. Finally the vet had said he needed another operation which would cost over $2,000.00. They could not afford it, they did not want to give him up as the children and the adults loved him by then.
I told her about Wishadoo and she posted his story there. She received some help immediately from some very kind readers. We got the rest from other people, friends etc. Eventually, the vet said the leg could not be saved and it would be much better for the puppy to remove it as he could not play or run and the bone had deteriorated too much.
It was a very difficult decision for them to make, but the happy ending is that the vet was right, they were able to pay for the removal of the leg, and for the first time, after he recovered, the puppy was able to run and play and the loss of his leg does not hamper him at all.
So thanks to those on Wishadoo who started the ball rolling and all the others who gave the puppy and his people, two little girls, a mom and dad, a new, happy life.
I love what you are doing and hope it continues to grow.
