Those word and privacy I respect. I have required the source of the 'post' and requested the writer to reply so the discussion can be furthered. I hope I'm not getting the wrong end of the stick that your defending British actions in Indian. I note you dispute only "no famines in India since independence" as in 1974 1.5 million died, forgive me but I can only find Bangladesh as having a famine in 1974. A Independent country not long from suffering from war. I need to point out I in no way defend Indians actions which lead to suffering of her people.

I also note you point to other famines from 1022 CE to 1869 total of 42 million (a guess)

But don't dispute 85 million from 1858 and 1947

That's 85 million dead in about 100 years.
