(32,324 posts)Nations involved. (So far, New Zealand, Chile, Singapore and Brunei/Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia, Canada, The USA. And Peru wants inclusion possibly as well.)
Then after all the various input is assembled and decided on, as to the wording of the Plan, it should be brought back to the Congress here in USA -so that a simple majority can pass it. (Again, that is why this item is labelled a "Plan" and not an Act - an Act requires a two thirds majority of Congress, hard to do with these "Free Trade agreements. What makes it difficult is because the citizenry does end up getting involved and demanding their Congress people oppose it or get ousted from office next time around. )
Pres Obama has stipulated he wants this done by Halloween - but I am not sure if he simply wants all the international talks to be concluded, or if he wants the whole thing ratified by Congress here in the States by then.
