(23,819 posts)80. 2014's going to be an uphill climb, for sure
To win back the house, we have to overcome some of the most effective gerrymandering I've ever seen.
To hold the senate, we have an even bigger hurdle to overcome - almost twice as many D's up for election as R's, a number of D's retiring, and the incumbent R's are from the deep south or places like Idaho where it's tough for a liberal to exist, let alone win a statewide election.
Add to that the ever-increasing paranoid fervor of rightwing firearm fiends, and we're looking at a daunting political landscape indeed.
We'll need every activist's wholehearted involvement just to tread water, but it's hard to gin up enthusiasm for what looks like a losing fight.
On the upside, if we win either house in 2014, our victory will be all the sweeter.

I assume you plan to not vote in 2014 (from your post), and I know that helps the Republicans.

So you're not going to vote for elected representatives because Obama did something you didn't like?

2014 is a chance to turn over the House to Democratic & reinforce the "GOP out of touch" message. nt

Other than a watered-down healthcare bill, what did the Democrats do from 2008 to 2010?

President Obama is doing that. First president ever to insure a neat and tidy 50year continuation
