(52,208 posts)i was astounded at the notion that their smallest burger was the size of every other biggest burger. at the time it seem crazy.
but the original burgers certainly tasted far better than the competition (and actually, better than wendy's own burgers even just a few years later), and they were evidently right about america's appetite for way too much food.
i remember many more morbidly obese customers at wendy's than at other fast food joints, often eating triples AND chili AND fries AND....
one thing i certainly liked about wendy's is that they were REALLY good at special orders. at the time, mickey d's would make you wait 30 minutes for a plain cheeseburger! since then the other burger places have mostly figured out how to do that better, but it took them a long time and pressure from wendy's.
