I consider it the moral equivalent of rape. Because honestly, what's the long-term consequence of any sex abuse on a child, beyond any physical damage? It's the mental damage! There are serious reprecusions and consequences that will follow them for the rest of their lives, causing untold pain and suffering. And advertising is no different. It warps reality, sets expectations, and deliberately tries to create dissatisfaction and desires that can only be assuaged with a purchase. And while not every American has been raped, every American has been advertised to.

This is not belittling rape, this is saying advertising is just as harmful.
