(111,254 posts)3. During the worst of the 78 storm, it was so dark
and the snow was so heavy it looked black. I'd never seen black snow in the air, only in roadways after cars and pollution had done their things.
I think the 78 storm was a once in a lifetime storm, a true frozen hurricane. I aint dead yet, so I don't imagine this one will reach the same level, not with hundreds of cars stranded and buried out on the 128 beltway and the whole state shut down with a travel ban for days and days.
It doesn't look like the 2 storms will merge until late tonight, meaning coastal Maine and the Maritimes will likely get the worst of it.
